Our exhaust systems are manufactured out of 409 Stainless Steel – 409 is a titanium stabilised ferritic alloy that contains chromium. While it doesn’t polish well, 409 offers a number of benefits over 304 stainless steel.
- More workable than 304, 409 bends/welds very easily with the right equipment. Important if you ever damage the system & must repair it.
- Better suited to high temperature applications, handles heat cycling well (rivers crossings, beach driving, wet/cold weather)
- Better resistance to vibration - less likely to crack than 304
- Offers high strength with good corrosion resistance.
409 may oxidise over time – this brown look is caused by chemical reaction & actually helps corrosion resistance. OEM car & aftermarket exhaust manufacturers are the main users of 409 due to it being the ideal for vehicle exhausts.

Toyota 5D LAND CRUISER GX-HDJ80L-GNPEXW-4X4/285
One year ago my 1992 Land Cruiser got an Inter-cooler and the exhaust was too narrow for the higher motor power with max 1.0 bar turbo pressure. The natural solution was to look after an 3" exhaust in stead of the original 2.5" which was in pretty bad shape already. It was very hard to find a suitable in Europe and I was lucky to find Factory Direct 4x4. I got a lot of dedicated and perfect service from this supplier. Now the old exhaust is replaced by this excellent product. Before getting the delivery last week and the installation today two things bothered me, would it fit exactly and what the sound level and type would be. Now I can say that the decision to choose your product was very good. The only problem according to the workshop was to loosen the old corroded bolts at the turbo flange. The whole exchange job took four hours and I paid it gladly. The turbo takes pressure much faster now and the sound level at least inside the vehicle is moderate.

Great choice for the 80 series
The quality of the outback exhaust is excellent The fit was perfect, lined up with the factory mounting points and has well made brackets, keeping tucked up completely out of the way, you couldn’t get the fit any better. It sounds great Couldn’t be happier with this system.
